Holdem Calculator

Calculate Texas Hold’em hand equity, win/tie odds and pot-odds context for exact cards or random opponents.

Calculate Texas Hold’em win, tie and equity percentages for exact hands or random opponents, with optional community cards, dead cards and pot-odds context.

For probability study and hand review. This calculates showdown equity; it is not a GTO solver and does not account for betting ranges, fold equity, rake or opponent strategy.
Flop/turn/river spots with all hole cards known are enumerated exactly.

Your hand

Player 2

Leave both opponent cards blank to deal that seat randomly in the simulation.

Community board

Use rank + suit: s, h, d, c. Separate cards with spaces or commas.

Use this holdem calculator to compare Texas Hold’em hands by showdown equity. Enter your two hole cards, add exact opponent hands or leave opponents random, and optionally enter the flop, turn, river and dead cards. The calculator reports win percentage, tie percentage and equity share without reloading the page.

How the Hold’em calculator works

Texas Hold’em gives each player two private cards and uses a five-card community board. At showdown, each player makes the best five-card poker hand from any combination of the seven available cards. This tool repeatedly completes the unknown cards, evaluates every player’s best five-card hand and counts wins, ties and split-pot equity.

When every player’s hole cards are known and at least the flop is known, the remaining turn/river runouts are small enough to enumerate exactly. Preflop situations and seats left as random hands use Monte Carlo simulation so results appear quickly in the browser.

Holdem equity calculator vs. win percentage

Win percentage counts only outright wins. Tie percentage counts runouts where the best hand is shared. Equity gives each player their share of a tied pot, so a two-way tie contributes one-half of a win to each tied player. Equity is therefore the most useful single percentage when comparing showdown shares.

For example, if a hand wins 46% of runouts and ties 4% of runouts heads-up, its equity is approximately 48% because it receives half of the tied pots.

Hold em odds calculator inputs

Hole cards

Your first seat must have two exact cards. For the other seats you can either choose two exact cards or leave both fields blank to represent a random legal Hold’em hand from the remaining deck.

Community cards

Leave the board blank for a preflop calculation. Enter three cards for a flop calculation, four for the turn, or all five for a completed-board showdown. The calculator rejects duplicate cards automatically.

Dead cards

Dead cards are known cards that cannot appear in an opponent’s hand or on the future board, such as exposed or mucked cards you are intentionally removing from the deck. Enter them as standard short codes such as As for ace of spades or Td for ten of diamonds.

Exact enumeration and Monte Carlo simulation

A heads-up preflop matchup has more than 1.7 million possible five-card boards after four known hole cards are removed. That is feasible for specialized engines, but it can be unnecessarily heavy inside a general WordPress calculator page. Current first-page tools therefore use a mix of exact enumeration and Monte Carlo simulation.

This calculator uses exact enumeration when all hole cards are known and no more than the turn and river remain. Otherwise it runs the selected number of random legal deals. A simulation result is an estimate and can move slightly if the scenario is recalculated with a different random sequence; increasing the trial count reduces sampling noise.

Hold em hand calculator and poker hand ranking

Each completed seven-card holding is evaluated using standard high-hand ranking: straight flush, four of a kind, full house, flush, straight, three of a kind, two pair, one pair and high card. Kicker ranks are compared when two hands have the same category.

The evaluator also handles the wheel straight, A-2-3-4-5, where the ace plays low for the straight.

Pot odds context

If you enter the pot before your call and the amount required to call, the calculator also shows the break-even equity for that immediate price:

Break-even equity = amount to call ÷ (pot before call + amount to call)

This is only a mathematical comparison. Real poker decisions can depend on future betting, rake, stack depth, ranges, fold equity, tournament incentives and opponent strategy, none of which are solved by a simple equity percentage.

Is this a Texas holdem solver?

No. The search phrase Texas holdem solver is often used loosely for poker calculation tools, but a true game-theory solver models ranges, bet sizes, actions and strategic equilibria across a decision tree. This page is a holdem poker calculator for showdown odds and equity. It does not generate GTO betting strategies or tell you which action to take.

Common ways to use the calculator

Exact hand vs. exact hand

Select two cards for each player. This is useful for reviewing a hand after play or checking a familiar matchup such as a pocket pair versus two overcards.

Hand vs. random opponent

Enter your own two cards and leave the opponent blank. The simulator deals a random legal opponent holding on each trial and reports your average equity against that random-hand model.

Post-flop draw or made-hand matchup

Enter the flop or turn plus both players’ exact cards. With a complete flop and known hands, the calculator can enumerate all remaining turn-and-river combinations exactly.

Frequently asked questions

What is a holdem calculator?

A holdem calculator measures how often selected Texas Hold’em hands win or tie across possible remaining cards. It is commonly called a hold em calculator, holdem poker calculator, hold em hand calculator, holdem odds calculator or holdem equity calculator.

Are the results exact?

Post-flop scenarios with every hole card known are enumerated exactly. Preflop and random-opponent scenarios use Monte Carlo simulation and are estimates that converge toward the true probability as more trials are run.

Can I enter more than two players?

Yes. The calculator supports two through six seats. Opponent seats can be exact hands or random hands.

Does this calculator include folded cards?

Only if you enter known exposed or dead cards. Unknown folded cards should normally be left unknown rather than guessed.

Does equity tell me whether to bet, call or fold?

No. Equity is one input to poker analysis, not a complete strategy. The tool intentionally does not provide gambling recommendations or GTO actions.

Methodology and sources

The hand evaluator follows standard Texas Hold’em showdown rules and conventional poker hand rankings. Current first-page Hold’em calculators were reviewed for user intent, including exact-card matchups, random opponents, community-card entry, simulation counts, tie equity and pot-odds context. The calculator runs locally in the browser and does not send card selections to a poker site or account.
