Air Force Fitness Test Calculator

Estimate a 2026 USAF PFRA composite using standard push-ups, sit-ups, the 2-mile run and WHtR, with a separate alternate-event point mode.

Estimate a 2026 USAF PFRA score with standard push-ups, sit-ups, 2-mile run, and waist-to-height ratio, or combine official alternate-event component points.

Uses current 2026 USAF PFRA scoring-table lookups. Official scored testing under the revised standards resumed July 1, 2026. This is an independent estimate, not an official Air Force record.

What Is the Air Force Fitness Test Calculator?

This Air Force Fitness Test Calculator estimates a U.S. Air Force Physical Fitness Readiness Assessment (PFRA) score using the 2026 scoring standards. It is designed around the standard-event path: standard push-ups for strength, sit-ups for core endurance, the 2-mile run for cardio, and waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) for body composition.

The current PFRA uses a 100-point composite: cardio is worth up to 50 points, body composition up to 20 points, muscular strength up to 15 points, and core endurance up to 15 points. The scoring tables vary by age group and sex except for WHtR, which uses one universal point table.

2026 Air Force Fitness Test Changes

The Department of the Air Force changed the fitness program in 2026. The updated assessment brought back scored waist-to-height ratio, replaced the previous primary run with a 2-mile run, and rebalanced the point distribution. AFPC announced a diagnostic transition from March 1 through August 31, 2026, with official scored testing under the new standards beginning September 1, 2026.

Component Maximum points Standard event in this calculator
Cardio 50 2-mile run
Body composition 20 Waist-to-height ratio
Strength 15 Standard push-ups
Core endurance 15 Sit-ups

How to Use the Air Force Fitness Test Calculator

  1. Enter your age and select the sex used by the official scoring chart.
  2. Enter the number of standard push-ups completed.
  3. Enter the number of sit-ups completed.
  4. Enter your 2-mile run time in minutes and seconds.
  5. Enter waist and height using the same unit. The calculator divides waist by height to produce WHtR.
  6. Calculate to see component points, composite score, classification and pass status.

If you use an alternate authorized event, switch to the alternate-event scorecard mode. In that mode you can enter the official chart points already earned for strength, core and cardio, and the calculator will combine them with your WHtR score. This avoids pretending that one event’s raw-result table applies to another event.

What Score Do You Need to Pass?

A composite score of 75.0 or higher is the basic passing line, but component minimums also matter. Under the 2026 chart, the standard push-up and sit-up tables have starred minimum rows worth 2.5 points, while the 2-mile run minimum is 35.0 points. Falling below a required component minimum causes an overall failure even when the arithmetic total would otherwise reach 75.

WHtR contributes from 0 to 20 points. The official scoring chart shows 20 points at 0.49 or lower, gradually fewer points through 0.59, and 0 points at 0.60 or higher. The current official chart does not mark a separate starred minimum for WHtR, so this calculator does not make a zero-point WHtR an automatic failure by itself.

Air Force Fitness Score Categories

The calculator labels a composite of 90 or above as Excellent, 75 through 89.9 as Satisfactory, and below 75 as Unsatisfactory. A displayed category does not override a failed mandatory component. The result panel therefore shows both the composite category and the separate overall pass/fail determination.

How Push-Up Points Are Calculated

Push-up standards vary across nine age groups and by sex. The calculator uses the exact standard push-up thresholds from the official AFPC PFRA scoring charts rather than interpolating between rows. If a performance falls between two published thresholds, it receives the highest point row whose minimum number of repetitions was met.

How Sit-Up Points Are Calculated

Sit-ups use their own 15-point table. Like the push-up calculation, the score is selected from the published age-and-sex row. The calculator does not estimate fractional points between official thresholds.

How the 2-Mile Run Is Scored

The 2-mile run is worth half of the total PFRA score. Faster times receive more points. The calculator converts the entered minutes and seconds into total seconds, then compares that time with the applicable AFPC age-and-sex thresholds. The standard-event calculator gives 35 points at the minimum passing run row and up to 50 points at the maximum row.

How Waist-to-Height Ratio Is Scored

WHtR is calculated as waist measurement divided by height measurement, using the same units for both. A 32-inch waist and 70-inch height, for example, gives a ratio of about 0.457. The official scoring presentation is based on the ratio rounded to two decimal places, so the calculator rounds before applying the point table.

WHtR Points
0.49 or lower 20
0.50 19
0.51 18
0.52 17
0.53 16
0.54 15
0.55 12.5
0.56 10
0.57 7.5
0.58 5
0.59 2.5
0.60 or higher 0

What About Hand-Release Push-Ups, Planks, HAMR and Other Options?

The current Air Force program includes alternate events, and each alternate has a separate scoring table. Strength may use hand-release push-ups. Core endurance alternatives include the cross-leg reverse crunch and forearm plank. Cardio alternatives include the 20-meter HAMR, and a 2-kilometer walk may apply in an authorized profile situation.

Instead of applying the wrong raw-result table, this page includes an alternate-event scorecard mode. Use the official AFPC chart to obtain the component points for your selected alternate event, enter those points, and the calculator will combine them with WHtR and test the composite and minimum-point rules. A future platform version can add every raw alternate-event table without changing the page URL.

Example Air Force Fitness Score

Consider an Airman under 25 using the male scoring table who completes 67 push-ups, 58 sit-ups, runs 2 miles in 13:25, and has a WHtR of 0.49. Each standard event reaches the maximum row: 15 strength points, 15 core points, 50 cardio points and 20 body-composition points. The composite is 100.

A more typical result may have a strong run but lower strength or core points. Because cardio carries 50% of the score, run performance has a large effect on the composite, but the component floors mean an Airman cannot ignore strength or core entirely.

Why This Calculator Uses Official Table Lookups

The 2026 PFRA is not a continuous algebraic formula. It is a set of discrete scoring tables. Two performances only one repetition or a few seconds apart can fall on different point rows. This calculator therefore uses table lookups and does not invent intermediate scores.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a passing Air Force fitness test score in 2026?

The composite passing line is 75 points, subject to required component minimums. A failed mandatory component can make the overall result unsatisfactory even when the arithmetic total reaches 75.

When do the 2026 Air Force fitness standards count for record?

AFPC announced diagnostic testing from March 1 through August 31, 2026 and official scored testing beginning September 1, 2026.

How many points is the 2-mile run worth?

The cardio component is worth up to 50 points, half of the 100-point composite.

Does age affect the Air Force fitness score?

Yes. Push-up, core and cardio scoring standards use age bands. WHtR uses the same point table across age groups.

Is this calculator official?

No. It is an independent reference tool. Your unit-administered assessment and the official Department of the Air Force records control.

Methodology and Official Sources

The standard-event mode uses the final USAF PFRA scoring charts effective March 1, 2026 for standard push-ups, sit-ups, 2-mile run, and waist-to-height ratio. It performs direct threshold lookups with no interpolation. The alternate-event scorecard combines user-entered official component points rather than guessing alternate-event raw scores.
