ADP Net Pay Calculator
Estimate 2026 US net pay using gross earnings, W-4 inputs, FICA, deductions and state/local withholding.
Estimate 2026 US take-home pay from gross earnings, Form W-4 inputs, Social Security, Medicare, deductions, and a user-entered state/local withholding amount.
Estimated paycheck
This independent ADP net pay calculator estimates 2026 US take-home pay from gross earnings, current Form W-4 inputs, federal income-tax withholding, Social Security, Medicare, deductions and the state/local withholding amount you enter. It is designed to answer the same gross-to-net question users often search as “net pay calculator ADP,” but it is not an ADP product and does not use ADP proprietary payroll software.
Use the direct-gross, annual-salary or hourly/overtime input mode. The federal calculation follows the IRS 2026 Percentage Method for automated payroll systems, while FICA uses the current employee rates and wage-base rules.
How the 2026 Net Pay Estimate Is Calculated
The basic relationship is net pay = gross pay − taxes − deductions. Federal income-tax withholding is calculated from taxable wages after the entered pre-tax deductions, annualized by pay frequency, adjusted with Form W-4 Steps 2–4, and evaluated against the IRS 2026 annual percentage-method table.
Federal Income Tax Withholding
IRS Publication 15-T provides the 2026 withholding worksheet and percentage tables used by payroll systems. For a 2020-or-later W-4, the method annualizes taxable wages, adds Step 4(a) other income, subtracts Step 4(b) deductions and the worksheet adjustment, calculates tentative annual withholding, divides by pay periods, subtracts Step 3 credits per period, and adds Step 4(c) additional withholding.
The Step 2 multiple-jobs checkbox changes both the worksheet adjustment and the withholding rate schedule, so the calculator treats it as a real calculation input instead of a cosmetic option.
Social Security and Medicare
For 2026, the employee Social Security rate is 6.2% up to the $184,500 wage base. The employee Medicare rate is 1.45% with no ordinary wage cap. Employers begin withholding an additional 0.9% Medicare tax once an employee’s Medicare wages paid by that employer exceed $200,000 during the year.
YTD wage inputs let the calculator stop Social Security withholding at the annual wage base and begin the employer-side Additional Medicare withholding calculation in the correct paycheck.
Pre-Tax and Post-Tax Deductions
Not every pre-tax benefit has the same payroll-tax treatment. A traditional 401(k) contribution normally reduces federal income-tax wages but remains subject to Social Security and Medicare, while qualifying cafeteria-plan deductions can receive different FICA treatment. That is why the calculator provides separate federal-tax and FICA-exempt deduction fields.
State and Local Withholding
ADP’s official salary paycheck calculator supports gross-to-net estimates across all 50 states. This independent tool intentionally does not embed a 50-state/local tax database that can quietly become stale. Enter the state and local withholding for the current paycheck from your own state calculator, payroll setup or recent comparable paystub, and it will be included in net pay.
Salary, Hourly and Overtime Pay
Annual salary is divided by the selected number of pay periods. Hourly mode calculates regular earnings plus overtime at the multiplier you enter and any other taxable earnings. The calculator does not decide whether a worker is legally entitled to overtime; it only applies the rate and hours supplied.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this calculator operated by ADP?
No. SeriesCalculator is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by ADP. ADP is referenced because users commonly search for its paycheck and net-pay calculators.
Does the calculator use 2026 tax rules?
Yes. The federal percentage-method tables, Social Security wage base and employee FICA rates in this release are for 2026. Tax rules should be rechecked for later years.
Why do I enter state and local tax manually?
State and local payroll rules change independently and can depend on work location, residence, local jurisdiction and special forms. Manual entry prevents a stale national rule table from giving a falsely precise paycheck.
Can I calculate hourly net pay?
Yes. Choose Hourly + overtime, enter regular hours, overtime hours, hourly rate and the overtime multiplier.
Will the result exactly match my paycheck?
Not necessarily. Payroll systems can include state/local rules, taxable fringe benefits, special wage types, employer-specific benefit treatment, garnishments and rounding that are not represented here. Use the result as an estimate.
Methodology and Sources
The 2026 federal withholding method is based on IRS Publication 15-T Worksheet 1A and the annual Percentage Method tables. FICA rates and the $184,500 Social Security wage base are cross-checked against IRS and Social Security Administration 2026 guidance. ADP’s official salary calculator is used for competitor and search-intent comparison only; no proprietary ADP formula or service is reproduced.
